so upset
So. I am struggling a little bit with Kelsie and school work. She is a very smart little girl who loves school. Like seriously, lives school. She goes to school 5 days a week all day long and would go 7 days a week with no problem if she had to. The kid LOVES school. She plays school at home right after she gets out of school. Its so cute too because she shuts her door and you can hear her reading to the "class"! I love it. Okay, so that is not my problem. My problem is she is so down on herself when she doesn't get at least an A on her tests and work. I have issues with that. I don't know what to do for her.
She got in the car the other day after school and instantly started bawling. I ask her what is the matter and she shut down on me and plugged her ears. I stopped the car and told her she was not going to plug her ears and that she needed to tell me what was wrong or I couldn't fix whatever problem there was. She then proceeded to tell me that she had a quiz and she got a C on it. I told her that its okay that she got a C. I said sometimes assignments are going to seem a little harder and she may not always know and understand it. I told her that she won't always ( I mean not that I don't want her to) get an A on every assignment but that a D or an F was untolerable. I don't want her to think that she can always get a C but my goodness girl was not taking it very well.
We study and study and study every single night. We go over and over and over her work. We make up our own spelling tests. We read through her story of the week at least 2 times a night and sometimes 3. I don't know what it is at school but she just can't seem to stay focused and on track. This is the only C she has gotten and at least it was just on a quiz..and not her overall grade because let me tell ya...daddy is gonna fly off the broom with this one! Seriously, thought she should've been on the A honor roll in KiNdErGaRtEn! Get real!!!
Well, if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. How do I help her to not be so hard on herself? Every little mistake she makes at school she gets herself so worked up over.
Have a great evening...on to studying for that spelling test tomorrow!
Love to you all!!
